It’s time to revive this blog!

It has been awhile since I last posted on here, but it seems it might be a good time to dust this thing off and write again. I think 2020 has definitely been different than what anyone expected. Personally, it has been a time for more self-reflection and it has caused me to really appreciate the things that I’ve taken for granted. Things as simple as having a meal with a friend or family member.  Hopefully once we get out of this, we’ll be people who are more grateful and more kind . That’s something the world needs more of, especially, now. As for the blog ... what topics are you interested in? What data or non-data things would you like to see?  I find a lot of the data stuff I’m doing nowadays is all related to work, but I’ll try to share more of that here. So many exciting things happening in the world of data ... new tools, really creative ways of sharing data stories, more blending of dashboards and apps, and so much more. And, it’s going to be very interesting to see what

TC18 is coming!

Hard to believe another  Tableau Conference  is coming up! I missed last year's event and even though I was able to catch some of the keynotes online, it just wasn't the same as being there in person. I realized I always come back INSPIRED from Tableau Conference. The opportunity to see what is coming in future versions of Tableau, to network with other data nerds, and to see what others are creating with Tableau is something I really enjoy. So, if you're still thinking about attending, it's not too late to sign up . Trust me, it'll be worth it! 😊

Calling all Makers!

The 11th annual Maker Faire Bay Area is coming up in about one month! Hard to believe it has already been over a decade. Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned. You'll definitely want to check out this event if you enjoy making things, seeing new innovations, tinkering things, and just having fun! :D Maker Faire is a gathering of fascinating, curious people who enjoy learning and who love sharing what they can do. It’s a venue for makers to show examples of their work and interact

Data + YOU

Took me a bit of time to get to it, but I finally posted my recap from the 2015 Tableau Conference . I used a cool new app from Adobe called Adobe Slate that makes it super simple to add photos and interactivity to anything you want to communicate. Check out my recap here: https://slate.adobe.com/cp/x9myo/

Destination Data

Having just returned from the 2014 Tableau Conference , I was debating whether or not I should blog about it. I realized I've received so much from the Tableau Community over the years that it would be a shame to not share my thoughts. So, here we go ... TABLEAU CONFERENCE IS BIG! One thought that definitely stuck out was the sheer size of this year's conference! There were 5,500 attendees so it was definitely crowded at times. But it was a reminder of the incredible growth that Tableau has been experiencing and how, so many others have found Tableau to be a tool that not only gets the job done, yet also delights. I like how one person said that Tableau is the closest thing he's found to playing a video game at work . I totally agree! If you're going to attend one data/analytics conference during the year, this is the ONE you want to go to. I was anticipating the first keynote because it always sets the stage for what is to come. Having heard Christian
